One of the true enjoyment in jazz can be the combination
of musicians playing together. Here, another great trio whom
nobody has imagined - even the players themselves - comes
up. Pianist and the leader Don Friedman teams up with bassist
John Patitucci and drummer Omar Hakim.
Until the recording date, these three musicians have never
played together before, and added to that was the fact that
they were meeting for the first time in a recording studio.
However, unpredictability became a positive force to them.
They only talked over how they would play the beginning and
ending of the tunes. The fact that they allowed the music
to develop in a natural unrehearsed way made the performance
really spontaneous. Check with your ears how these musicians
of such high caliber sounds together.
